Now a lots kinds of laptops,when we look at its configuration, we often see such as: 14.1 inches XGA TFT display,15.4 inches SXGA TFT display.
So what is the meanings of XGA and SXGA?

VGA: Video Graphics Array, this screen is now generally in the notebooks which have disappeared, is very old notebooks used screen, supports a maximum resolution of 640 × 480, but there are still some small portable devices is still in using this screen.

SXGA +: Super Extended Graphics Array,it is designed specifically for the notebook screen. Its display resolution of 1400 × 1050. Because of the horizontal and vertical pitch laptop LCD screen is different from ordinary desktop LCD, so the accuracy of its display than the average 17 inch desktop LCD much higher.
VGA: Ultra Video Graphics Array, it uses in the notebooks of the 15 inch screen, supports resolution of 1600 × 1200 . Because of the manufacturing process so higher prices are more expensive. At present, only a small part of the high-end mobile workstation used with this type of screen.
WXGA: Wide Extended Graphics Array,this is a widescreen version of the ordinary XGA screen, WXGA using horizontal width ratio of 16:10 to expand the screen size. it supports maximum display resolution of 1280 × 800. Because of its horizontal pixels is only 800, so in addition to the general 15 inch notebooks, there are 12.1 inch notebooks using with a screen of this type.
WXGA +: Wide Extended Graphics Array,it is an extension of a WXGA, the maximum display resolution of 1280 × 854. Because of its lateral width ratio of 15:10 instead of the standard widescreen 16:10.Therefore, only a small parts of the screen size of 15.2 inches in the books using with this product.
WSXGA +: Wide Super Extended Graphics Array,it support display resolution of 1680 × 1050, in addition to most of the more than 15 inches widescreen notebooks, the more popular large-size LCD-TV also have used with this type of product.
WUXGA: Wide Ultra Video Graphics Array,WUXGA screen is very rare, and its display resolution up to 1920 × 1200. Because the price is too high so few notebook manufacturers to use this screen.
